Mah-jong is not just a game, but a Chinese method of divination.  The tiles make use of Chinese symbolism, things such as dragons of different colors, bamboo, and circles.  Like domino readings, the querent traditionally turns the tiles face down, mixes them up, and selects how many tiles are necessary for the method of reading.  Select a method below and click "Get Your Reading".

The Cross

The Cross Spread is for advice. It is the same as the practical tarot spread. The main thing is to determine the difference between tile #2 and #3. #1 is the topic and #4 is the result.
 
 


3 Bones #1

This method of reading draws 3 bones out of the boneyard. They are flipped to answer the query in chronological order.

  


3 Bones #2

In this method of 3 Bones tiles may repeat.  Traditionally this reading would require mixing the tiles 3 times.  If tiles do repeat, this indicates a faster outcome.
 
 

The Reversed Compass Reading

This reading sets the tiles in the celestial form instead of the terrestrial format that is used in navigational compasses. This is done to follow the traditions inherent in Chinese Philosophy. This complex reading is very flexible in that you may focus on a specific or general question, or no question at all when using it.
